Dunno if I told yall but in the future I want to professionally create or help create video games lol. Game maker is a program that allows me to do just that without the need for knowledge in coding (granted I still want to know how to code).
Anyways I might try to do like a metroid platformer (because metroid is awesome) I'll probably post crap as a progress as in sprite animations and such. Maybe every once and awhile I'll upload an executable file for you all to download and to play for alil feedback.
....I need sprite sheets up the rear now... lol.

...or google >_> anyways basic running animation. Seems a tad too fast but I can always adjust it. Already made that animation hours ago actually. I was trying to add gravity so when Samus is in the air she'll fall back down, but glitches through the floor after a few seconds -_- I think I know how to stop that though. Anyways, gonna add an idle animation and probably morph ball. Prolly get going on the lil jump animation tomorrow after school. Then should find somekind of metroid-ish tileset and background. Hopefully I don't have to end up making my own because I'm horrible at drawing rofl.

It's a simple program to use and the tutorial can easily get you going to make very basic stuff using Drag and Drop. BTW if you plan on using sprite animations the code image_speed = is your best friend. 0.5-0.7 are decent speeds. On the side note of that sprite sheet. I'm using this one (its better see attachment) Attachments:

Gonna redo the run animation so she has her arm cannon pointing out and afterwards do the morphball animation. Gotta figure out how to properly put in gravity... samus keeps glitching through the floor -_-
EDIT:: Well actually it isn't glitching through the wall but its like she gets stuck after moving like a centimeter. Can't be the the gravity either because I have a it to set if the floor collides with samus the gravity is set to 0 and vice versa when samus collides with the floor.

The drag and drop actions are simple enough to use. Everytime you open up GM a tutorial pops up on how to make a game. Should use do that to get some understanding for the game. Plus theres always tuts online.

Finally got to it again (laziness ftw... even though this won't really be an 'official' game lol) Morph Ball Animation New Running Animation Also have an idle animation but it's nothing special. Not touching this game anymore until I learn a tad bit of coding which I'm asking questions on another forum site.

I think I'll post what I have so far (you'll have to download an executable file though to see what I have done) All you'll be able to do is just move from side to side. I'm still having trouble getting the transition to and from Morphball mode done right (the transition animation loops and sadly I can't do just a simple "loop = false" and call it done =\) I'll get some metroid-ish tileset and make a little demo room type deal. EDIT:: here it is www.megaupload.com/?d=B4846NF0I'm warning you now so you don't complain that you wasted your time, all you can do is just move side to side and check out what I mean by "Fail Morphball Transition". Controls- left and right arrow keys to move left and right up and down for fail morphball transition (if you just press down and then press left and right you can move in morphball, but you can't get back out) BTW I purposely broke the gravity so samus will be floating. She would get stuck on the blocks for some reason otherwise.

I finally got the morphball transition working Now to work on getting her to jump so I'll have her basic movements. Then I'll work on finding out how to get her to shoot her power beam, get a basic enemy created and some kind of health system (energy tanks of course)

aight I'm going to put the Metroid game off for awhile until I get more knowledgable at coding. Going to try something more simple... like an scrolling arcade shooter

Thanks, but taking a break from making the metroid. Trying to make something beyond my league lol. If you think about it all I did was get the basic movement down (running, jumping, morphball). So literally I barely scratched the surface. Still would have to add some bosses/mini bosses, power ups, make samus shoot/drop bombs, etc etc place add the huge element of exploration which is one of the things that makes metroid such an awesome series Arcade shooter however will be alot simpler. 5 minutes is all it takes to get the movements of the ship coded. Only problems I see trying to do is create the enemies, making things shoot, adding upgrades, and adding a health system and obviously some type of boss. Power to the google search engine!
